Honor Our Own: Celebrating Retired Educators
MTA retired educators Kenneth Kalen and Elaine Koury are the recipients of the 2024 Honor Our Own Award. They will be celebrated at the Honor Our Own Luncheon on Oct. 21.
Kalen is a retired teacher who worked for 35 years at Gibbons Elementary School in Stoughton. Koury is a founder of Wisdom Warriers and a longtime English and performing arts teacher in Boston and Cambridge.
The September edition also has coverage of legislation to repeal WEP/GPO and information about a new Retired member mentoring program for new educators of color.
